The Goddard School® located in Charlestown, MA is looking for a motivated, self-starter for a Director position at our School. The ideal candidate must be a team player with strong leadership skills and an outgoing personality, the ability to build a good rapport with faculty and families, a comprehensive understanding of childcare regulations through The Department of Early Education and Care, flexibility as needed for the role, and a passion for coaching faculty to offer the best possible classroom environment.

- In cooperation with the On-Site Operator and School Owners, help to oversee the school with particular attention to faculty training, school culture, curriculum development, and adherence to licensing and Goddard standards
- Using a growth mindset for the school, while being able to understand both business and early education perspective
- Developing strong relationships with our families and our faculty
- Complying with state childcare licensing regulations by maintaining organized and up-to-date child and faculty files, ensuring medication and required paperwork is current, conducting faculty observations, being aware of the classroom environments, conducting fire and emergency drills, and any other duty as required by the On-Site Operator and School Owners.
- Projecting a positive and upbeat attitude while working in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrating highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Having a genuine love for children and a strong commitment to education
Meet the state qualifications and those set forth in the national hiring standards including-
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field (will consider an Associates degree or higher with relevant management experience)
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Center Director
- Management experience in a licensed large group childcare center
- Director II Certification (MA Department of Early Education and Care)
- Must be able to work any required 9-hour shift between the hours of 7:00AM - 6:00PM, Monday-Friday (Flexibility Required)
- Able to attend faculty meetings on the 3rd Wednesday evening of each month (Flexibility Required)
- Able to attend occasional evening activities (Graduation, Faculty Events, Etc.)
- Available for Quarterly weekend events as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An inspirational leader and team builder
- Proactive about building relationships with new families and maintaining high enrollment to make sure the students have access to the best curriculum available
- Organized and able to multitask, strategically resolves challenges, and has a great attitude
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
- Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid
- Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses
- Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
- Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies
- Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved
- Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
